Brent Smith

A Native Montanan, Brent Smith was raised on the Rocky Mountain Front in Choteau. He graduated from Montana State University-Bozeman with a BS in Environmental Sciences-Soils. After college he continued his career in Fire Management with the USDA Forest Service. While with the Forest Service, Brent’s main area of focus was prescribed fire and Fire Use Management. After 17 years in Fire Management, Brent and his family moved to the Winnett area to work on his wife’s, Trisha, family ranch. In 2019, Brent began working as the Coordinator for the Winnett ACES where his main focus was the day-to-day operation of the organization and the implementation and management of the ACES rangeland improvement and conservation program.  Brent has been the CEMIST program manager since fall 2022.
